Cable Burial Risk Assessment
Anatec can provide a Cable Burial Risk Assessment in line with the best practice industry guidance (including Carbon Trust, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)) to provide burial recommendations for a new subsea cable (e.g., wind farm export and inter-array cables, interconnectors, telecom cables).
Anatec have carried out a large number of CBRAs for wind farm developers / operators, ranging from small inter-array cables to longer export cables, as well as a number of interconnectors transporting power between two or more countries. Projects include cables in UK waters (North Sea, English Channel), Europe, South-East Asia and the East Coast of the United States.
The cable risk assessment includes analysis of the possible anthropogenic risk factors related to the cable. Utilising real time shipping survey data, it is used to identify risks from vessel anchors, fishing gear, 3rd party vessel activity, etc. A typical CBRA Methodology Includes:

Anatec have developed tools to assist with the data analysis, for example cross-reference fishing vessels with internal databases to identify gear types, identifiying vessels actively fishing (as opposed to transiting), analysing vessels by navigational status, speed and behaviour to determine vessels at anchor.
Anatec’s models can calculate the risks associated with dragged anchors and emergency anchoring to provide a risk frequency profile along the cable route which is used to provide burial recommendations.
